Riccardo Tisci honed in on Hubert Givenchy’s muse back in the sixties, Audrey Hepburn, and fused the sleek 60’s silhouette with an ecclectic, bohemian gypsy vibe for his Fall 2012- 2013 Givenchy couture collection.Tisci took lavish materials such as leather and mink lace and cut it in to long fringes and strips; for added detail special pieces were embroidered with extraordinary beadwork.Earthy tones of chestnut, ocre, terracotta and rosy red created a beautiful movement that blended with wool and leather dresses to create a fierce collection. Capes and kimono added to the tribal vibe, but this season was kept thoroughly modern through the use of sandal boots and sci-fi style visors creating a complete “collision of contradiction” as the house describes.
