Dominated by leathers, metallic shoulder detailing and studded cuffs, Anthony Vaccarello’s F/W 2013-14 monochromatic collection was an evolution of armour for the contemporary woman. The designer’s updated chainmail featured, as he played with round links to sculpt silver panels into body conscious focal points.
Adding to the industrial feel, utility belts and apron-like wrapped skirts were a motif throughout, with angora textured knits making an appearance for juxtapositional softness. An iridescent navy suit was an exciting addition, and reinforced a strong female silhouette.
Concluding with an upbeat “I can boogie” soundtrack, the strong collection was none-the-less spirited and accessible, complemented by the chic space at Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild.
