A vision of a delicate princess on her magical white horse—Marc Jacobs celebrated all things pretty and feminine at the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2012 show. The sugary-sweet show was the antithesis of last season’s fetish, bondage-a-go-go show consisting of leather bondage style shorts, cashmere onesies, corset-like waist-cinching belts and those sexy boots that sold a whopping 2,000 pairs in the first week.
An enchanting delight, models sat poised on a beautiful carousel consisting of 48 horses, while they gracefully stepped off to parade around the runway in their candy-coated dresses and shimmering skirt suits. Sparkling appliquéd rosettes, lace collars, layers of tulle, ombré feathers and pastels were fit for any princess. The incredible craftsmanship, detailing and exquisite tailoring were breathtaking. Jacobs said, “The workmanship on our new basket weave bags is insane. It took six hours just to line up the skins on one coat”.
It was a star-studded event with the likes of Uma Thurman, Olivia Wilde, Abbie Cornish, Nicole Richie, Poppy Delevingne and Rachel Zoe just to name a few. As the fashion merry-go-round came to a halt, Kate Moss, resembling an elegant white swan, was the last girl standing on the runway adorned in a tiara and feathery white ensemble.
