John Galliano’s A/W 2012 show felt like a scene out of the famous novel, The Hounds of the Baskervilles, set in England’s countryside. Bill Gaytten, in his second season at the label’s helm, took us on a lovely equestrian ride with British-chic pieces such as fur-trimmed capes, belted riding coats with ruffled collars, velvet cropped trousers and elaborate Stephen Jones-designed hats. Beauties Jourdan Dunn, Lindsey Wixson and Coco Rocha strutted their stuff in romantic, accordion pleated gowns paired with sexy thigh-high hosiery. The autumnal color palette was a mixture of rich spices, cinnamon, mustard and paprika. The collection was a brilliant mix of English posh and valorous sexuality—racy meets refined.
