Giambattista Valli‘s Fall 2012 haute couture collection consisted of all things natural and earthy, from the colors to the accessories to the floral prints. Known for his uber-feminine style, Valli sent gorgeous long frothy dresses and flirty cocktail numbers down the runway adorned with lots, and lots, of ruffles, peplums, feathers and embellishments!
In garden hues such as forest green, lilac purple and rose red, the models walked the runway with butterfly accessories, maple and oak leaf necklaces and netted veils covering their heads. The vibrant show was all about prints, ruffles and volume that created a dramatic “Secret Garden” feel.
The Italian designer may have gone a bit far when he debuted a bizzare green feathered evening dress accessorized with a butterfly placed over the models lips; creating a Silence of the Lambs meets greenhouse fairy affect. However, all in all this was a beautifully-executed collection of decadent dresses fit for the red carpet.
