Barbara Bui showcased a white hot S/S 2012 collection at the lavish Ritz Hotel at Place Vendome this past Thursday. The contemporary, urban line was influenced by a variety of cultures, the Thirties, graphic Art Deco prints and sporty references. From flirty leather-fringed minis to sporty track-like pants the line was chic and sophisticated with that slightly hard edge we all know and love.
Boy does Bui know how to do a jacket, particularly classic motorcycle and blazer styles for spring. Experimenting with textures, fabrications and proportions, she presented some fabulous outerwear that any woman would love to adorn. My favorites, the first look to hit the catwalk— a thickly fringed stylish leather frock—Bui aptly called it “fur of leather.” And the gorgeous white biker leather jacket that electrified the runway.
She created a masterful blend of tribal motifs, graphic prints, South American influences and color blocking. Youthful boxy embroidered shirts paired with sleek black sporty pants, bold blocks of colors ignited dresses and tops, while sleek, crisp white ensembles added a cosmopolitan flare to the collection. Crocodile, python and snakeskin bowling bags and clutches in vivid colors added a playful energy to each piece. Oh and let’s not forget the sexy sandals, I would like a pair in every color and style please! Click here to watch the alluring show.
