For his second season at Balmain, Olivier Rousteing presented an updated, fresh A/W 2012 collection while still maintaining the label’s celebrated intricate handcrafted pieces and detailing. The first look down the runway, an embellished leather sweatshirt paired with a simple white top and black pants. This looked captured the new Balmain girl—youthful, sporty and effortlessly modern.
Fabergé egg-inspired embellishment, floral embroidery, elaborate quilting, pearl ornamentation and diaphanous gold threading sassed up signature Balmain pieces such as boxy tuxedo jackets, motorcycle vests, fitted dresses and cuffed leather pants. Karlie Kloss strutted out in an ensemble that was made for an evening out on the town. Rocking hipster embroidered pearl and crystal velvet pants paired with an off-white crewneck sweater the look was effortless yet made a bold statement. Rousteing continues to soar to new heights at Balmain as he modernizes signature classics.
