The dynamic design duo An Vandevorst and Filip Arickx have always created a brand that embodies the warrior in every woman—strong, powerful, and individualistic. This season, A.F. Vandevorst brought both African and Western influences to craft a very unique, austere, yet elegant collection of warrior princesses ready to fight a revolution.
Inspired by the Samburu and Turkana tribes of Kenya, who pride themselves in artfully decorating their body, models marched the runway in printed scarves, ethnic prints, patterned tattoos, and fringes. Softness was added with layered and unbounded silks in red ochre, rich oranges, browns, and paisley.
Western warfare dominated the runway with a dramatic blend of armored shells, shrunken soldier’s jackets, and braided leather harnesses. Fitted navy jackets and golden medallions in the form of swinging tassels amplified key pieces.
