An “Urban Elegance” at Elie Saab A/W 2012

Architectural grey pieces opened the Elie Saab A/W 2012 show evoking a cosmopolitan city vibe. Precise lines, nipped waists and lean structured daywear led to a determined “Urban Elegance,” as Saab aptly named this season’s collection. Unlike the boxy tailoring dominating the fall runways, Saab featured beautifully tailored and cut-to-fit pantsuits, skirt suits and sheath dresses. Fierce furs and voluminous capes added dramatic touches to the structural lines. Cobweb detailing in the form of lace inserts added a graphic element, while prints brought delicate chiffon to life. For evening, the Elie Saab woman slipped into elegant ensembles illuminated by matte gold sequins, crystals and shimmering metallics. These luminous looks will set any Hollywood starlet aglow.
