A new exhibit in Moulins, France will present the ballet costumes designed by Christian Lacroix worn for La Source, presented last year in Paris. In Automn 2011, these beautiful designs were embroidered with Swarovski crystals and worn by dancers at le Palais Opéra Garnier. The ballet tells a story of love, spirit, and sacrifice which transpired in to Lacroix’s design. The fairytale setting of the ballet also induces many vivid colors, an orientalist effect, vintage sari’s and ethnic dresses.
The exhibition will open on Saturday, June 16 and will reveal the French couturier’s designs, inspiration board, the artistic challenges, fabric samples and premier sketches that created these ethereal costumes. It will be held at the Centre national du costume de scène et de la scénographie and runs through December 31.

Lacroix’s designs for the ballet are so elegant and graceful. I loved seeing the accessories for the costumes as well. Thanks Paris Girl for combining the cultural experience along with the fashion!
